Accused of stealing mobile phone: Labourer tied upside down, thrashed

Mysuru: Accusing a youth, working as a construction labourer of stealing a mobile phone, a supervisor has thrashed the youth after tying him upside down to a beam at the under-construction building near RTO Circle on Vani Vilas Road here yesterday.

It is learnt that the supervisor, who accused the 24-year-old youth of stealing a mobile phone about two days ago, tied him upside down to the beam of the under-construction building and thrashed him severely besides torturing him.

As soon as representatives of some news channels rushed to the spot, the supervisor untied the youth, took him on his bike and fled from the spot, it is learnt.

Though the jurisdictional Lakshmipuram Police Station is just at a distance, the personnel at the Police Station said that the incident has not come to their notice besides saying that no one has lodged a complaint in this regard.

The Police said that they came to know about the incident only after some news channels telecast the visuals and added that they have no proper information about the incident.
