Mysuru – A fortnight-long ‘Bal Bhavan Summer Camp-2017’ organised by District Jawahar Bal Bhavan commenced this morning at its premises in Bannimantap here.
The camp is free for children and not a commercial venture to fleece the parents. Enough Resource Persons have been deployed at the camp to expose kids to clay art, origami, desi games, computers, environmental protection and many more creative events.
Fire Brigade personnel will educate children on putting out accidental fires while Corporator Snake Shyam will educate children on snakes and their behaviour with live demonstration.
Also on cards are magic show, cultural programmes and a visit to Mysore Dairy to enable children get an idea of milk processing, according to K.Radha, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare. About 100 children have enrolled for the summer camp.
The camp was inaugurated by actor Chandan by releasing a bunch of balloons. Addressing the children, he advised them to learn various relevant topics in the camp and implement them at home. He asked children to focus on conservation of water and protection of environment not to exclude healthy food for sound health. He also rendered a song and entertained the kids.
Similar summer camps are being held at two places in every taluk of the district.
K Padma, Women and Child Development Officer, Shivalingappa, Child Development Project Officer, K.V. Krishnamurthy, Chief Co-ordinator, Bal Bhavan and others were present.
