Mysore/Mysuru: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. B.S. Manjunathaswamy inaugurated the 5-day ‘Sanchalana Rangotsava’ organised by Sanchalana Mysuru in association with Department of Kannada & Culture and Shravanashrama, Mysuru, at Kirurangamandira in the premises of Kalamandira on Monday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC opined that in order to identify the various facets of a literary creation of a writer, drama plays an important role and has become a main platform to convey new information to people. In Mysuru, plays attract more audience than any other form of art, he opined. Stating that most of the Jnanpith awardees had theatre background, he said that many experiments were carried out by them through enactment of plays.
“During COVID times, we promoted Dasara procession through online platforms. In the same way, the Mysuru theatre troupes should try to reach more audience through online,” he suggested.
On the first day of the Rangotsava, Dhatri Ranga Samsthe, Sirigeri, Ballari, staged the play ‘Bahubali Vijayam’ and on Tuesday ‘Muddannana Promotion Prasanga’ was staged. Today (May 11), they will be staging the play ‘Vishwamithra Menake Dance Madodu Yenake?’ at 6.30 pm.
