Kalaburagi: After Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency where four Sumalathas, including Sumalatha Ambarish wife of late actor-turned politician M.H. Ambarish, are contesting as independent candidates, it is now the turn of Gulbarga LS seat where three contestants with the Surname of Jadhav have filed nomination papers.
Besides taking on political heavyweight and veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, BJP candidate Dr. Umesh Jadhav will have to make sure that voters identify his correct name in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Three contestants — Shankar Jadhav, Vittal Jadhav and Vijay Jadhav- filed their nominations and their papers are in order.
It may be recalled that four independent contestants named Sumalatha (Sumalatha Ambarish, M. Sumalatha, Sumalatha and one more P. Sumalatha) submitted their nominations in Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency.
The same strategy has been chalked out in Gulbarga Lok Sabha segment which is expected to witness a fierce electoral battle between the BJP and Congress this time. Dr. Umesh Jadhav said that it is a strategy hatched by the Opposition to harass their opponent. “We will discuss with three other contestants and convince them to withdraw their nominations,” he said.
