AICC leader calls for strengthening of Congress from booth level

Mysuru: AICC General Secretary in-charge of Mysuru division Congress P.C. Vishnunath has called upon the party leaders to take up the responsibility of strengthening the party right from the booth level.

Addressing Krishnaraja Block and D. Devaraj Urs Block Congress meeting at Chikkamma Niketana Kalyana Mantap at Kuvempunagar here yesterday, Vishnunath stressed on the need for organising the party from booth level.

Claiming that the State Congress Government had delivered on its promises, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was selling over dreams, Vishnunath accused the ruling NDA Government at the Centre for labelling UPA Government programmes as its (NDA) own.

Explaining the need for reaching out State Government’s programmes to every door step, the AICC leader lauded K.R. MLA M.K. Somashekar for his organisational skills.

Asserting that the Siddharamaiah’s Government was pro-poor, with the introduction of Anna Bhagya, Vidya Siri and a host of such other schemes, Vishnunath said that the CM has contributed a lot to Mysuru by sanctioning more funds.

Emphasising on maintaining unity among all partymen, he said co-ordinated efforts was vital for bringing back the party to power in the 2018 Assembly polls.

MLA Somashekar, in his address, said that the Siddharamaiah Government was doing everything possible for the welfare of the poor. He lauded the Chief Minister for releasing more funds for the all-round development of the city.

KEA Chairman Siddaraju, in his address, regretted that party old timers were being ignored when it came to granting positions.

Emphasising on the need for involving party old-timers in making organisational decisions, he called for the recognition of all Congress workers who had toiled for the party for decades.

City Congress President R. Murthy, Mysuru Lac and Paints Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, City Women Congress President Radhamani, KPCC Secretary B. Lokesh, Corporators Sunil, J.S. Jagadish, Sunil Kumar, Shivamadu, Raghuraje Urs, former Mayors T.B. Chikkanna, Modamani and others were present.

Earlier in the morning, Vishnunath addressed Azeez Sait Block Congress meeting at KPTCL Samudaya Bhavan in Rajendranagar, during which he highlighted major achievements of the Siddharamaiah Govt.

Noting that the Siddharamaiah Government is pro-farmer, with the Government announcing farm loan waiver in Co-operative Banks, he said that the Congress Government is credited for releasing thousands of crores of rupees for the development of backward classes, minorities and weaker sections of the society.

Minister Tanveer Sait, who represents N.R. Constituency, called upon the partymen to strive hard for winning all the Assembly segments of the city in the Assembly polls.

Asking the partymen to conduct a door-to-door visit on Congress Government schemes and programmes, he said that it was important for the party workers to include missed out eligible voters in the electoral rolls.

Claiming that the Congress party was the only genuine secular party, he called upon the party workers to educate the voters on the achievements of Congress Government.

Azeez Sait Block Congress President Abdul Khader (Shahid), Women Wing President Chinnathayamma, leaders Shanthakumari, Arif Hussain, Shivanna and others were present.
