AIDYO’s Statewide demonstration on June 25 seeking wages for Guest Lecturers

Mysore/Mysuru: Claiming that the Government has not paid wages for Guest Lecturers across the State for the past several months, the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) will stage a Statewide demonstration on June 25 over the issue.

Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakartara Bhavan here this morning, AIDYO Secretary T.R. Sunil said that over 14,500 Guest Lecturers are serving at more than 400 Government First Grade Colleges across the State and they have not been paid wages since the past few months. Despite several pleas to the Government to clear wage dues, the Government is silent on the issue, he said and as such the AIDYO, which has taken up the cause of affected Guest Lecturers, is staging a demonstration throughout the State on June 25, to press the Government for action.

Claiming that several Guest Lecturers have committed suicide during COVID-19 lockdown reportedly due to financial constraints, Sunil urged the Government to announce a relief package for Guest Lecturers who are facing a lot of hardship.

AIDYO President H.S. Harish and others were present at the press meet.
