Mysore/Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, is getting close to people by displaying all its activities on the big LED screen.
Installed on ‘World Hearing Day’ on Mar.3 at Shankar Nag Circle (AIISH Circle) at a cost of Rs.6 lakh, this giant screen will play 46 videos pertaining to various activities of the Institute including medical training, from morning till night. By doing this, the institute was getting near to the specially-abled persons. Messages of 40 actors of Kannada, Hindi and local elected representatives about the importance of getting treatment for speech and hearing problems, are shown to attract people towards the institute.
Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH, said many people do not know about the existence of AIISH in Mysuru. They go to Private Hospitals for treatment for ear pain and deafness spending thousands of rupees. Hardly, a few people were taking benefits of AIISH. The LED screen has been put up specially to share information among roadside vendors, pedestrians and vehicle riders about facilities available at the premier institute.
This facility will be working 12 hours daily and will not stop even if there is power breakdown. The purpose of this was dissemination of information to public, she added.
