Mysore/Mysuru: The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, in association with the Karnataka Police Department, is organising a health camp to screen the staff and their family members of the Karnataka Police Department, Mysuru, for the presence of speech, language and hearing disorders.
The camp will be held for three days between July 11 and 13 at the office of the City Armed Reserve (CAR) Parade Ground, Mysuru.
Dr. Chandragupta, Commissioner of Police, Mysuru and Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH, will inaugurate the programme on July 11 at 10 am.
Following the inauguration, the expert audiologists, speech-language pathologists and ENT doctors of AIISH will screen more than 600 Police and family members.
The people working in the Police Department are often exposed to loud noises, high pollution and adverse environmental conditions, which increases their risk of developing communication disorders. The persons above 50 years are at a greater risk. The periodic screening will facilitate early identification of communication disorders, in turn leading to effective management.
The staff will also be oriented on the precautionary measures that they can take to minimise the risk of communication disorders. The camp is conducted free of cost by AIISH, according to a press release from AIISH PRO A.R. Keerthi [Mob: 98441-81080].
