AITUC seeks separate section in Labour Department

Mysuru:  The AITUC (All India Trade Union Congress) has demanded setting up of an exclusive section for construction workers in the Labour Department.

Addressing a meeting of Mysuru District Construction workers Association at a private Hotel here recently, AITUC State Secretary H.R. Sheshadri said that most of the construction workers have little knowledge on the benefits by the Government. As such, it is important that a separate section for construction workers be set up in all Labour Department Offices, he said and added that AITUC was going to write a letter to the Government in this regard.

Maintaining that many Trade Unions exist now just for name sake, Sheshadri alleged that most of the Trade Unions now were indulging in ‘Roll call’ and commissions, just to make quick money.

He said that AITUC was based on ideology and was committed to fight for the cause of the working class. Assistant Labour Commissioner Thammanna, Association office-bearers Girish, Somashekar Raje Urs, K.S. Revanna, Mahadevamma and others were present.
