Mysuru: ‘Akka Cafe’, set up to provide livelihood opportunities for women’s self-help groups, was inaugurated at the Nazarbad Taluk Office premises on Monday by Mysuru District in-Charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
The cafe is part of the programme announced in the 2025-26 State Budget by then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 18.20 lakh under the ‘Taluk Panchayat Surcharge and Sanjeevini’ scheme. Members of women’s Self-Help Groups will run the cafe, enabling them to earn an income while providing the public with hygienic and affordable food. The initiative aims to strengthen the economic independence of women and provide financial support.
The cafe will serve traditional breakfast items such as uppittu, kesaribath, rice bath, chitranna, idli and dosa. Lunch will include ragi mudde, rice, sambar and vegetable curries, besides coffee and tea.

Lakshmikanth Reddy, Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Ukesh Kumar, Deputy Secretaries Savitha and Bheemappa Lali, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer C. Krishna, Assistant Director K. Rukmangada and others were present.
