Alamengada Cup Cricket Tournament from Apr. 24

The 25-day-long Alamengada Cup Cricket Tournament will be held from Apr. 24 at the Vijayalakshmi Junior College Grounds at Balale.

Speaking to  mediapersons, Tournament Committee President Alamengada Bose Mandanna said that the tournament is being organised for the Kodava families to  participate and display their cricketing skills.

We have already witnessed Ballimada, Kandera, Addengada and Kokkengada cricket tournaments being successfully organised in the same ground. The tournament will be conducted with 8 overs allotted to each side, he added.

Mandanna further said that the tournament is being organised at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh for which the State Government had already sanctioned Rs. 5 lakh. “We are also expecting funds to be released by Mysuru-Kodagu MP similar what is being released for hockey tournament”, he added.

The committee is expecting around 250 teams to take part in the tournament.

Alamengada Vivek,  Alamengada Mohan Chengappa, Tournament Committee Vice-Presidents Suresh Subbaiah, Nidhira Somaiah, Suresh Ganapathy and Advisor Alamengada Vittal were present.
