Eight gold chains worth about Rs. 10.6 lakh recovered, two scooters seized
Mysuru: Alanahalli Police have arrested two chain-snatchers and have recovered eight gold chains weighing about 332 grams, worth about Rs. 10.6 lakh besides seizing two scooters used for the crimes.
The arrested are 21-year-old Mohammed Sadhu of N.R. Mohalla and 24-year-old Mohammed Muiez of Udayagiri ‘C’ Block in city.
The accused were nabbed during an operation by Alanahalli Police on Nov. 18 near Shukrodaya Circle Park in Alanahalli Police limits.
During interrogation, the Police came to know that the accused on Nov. 13 evening had snatched a gold chain weighing about 59 grams of S. Manjula near Alanahalli water tank besides targeting lonely women walking in deserted places at Jayalakshmipuram, Hebbal, Nazarbad and V.V. Puram Police limits and snatching their gold chains using Suzuki Access or Honda Activa scooters.
Following their arrest, the Police have solved three cases in Alanahalli Police limits, one case each in Jayalakshmipuram, Nazarbad and V.V. Puram Police limits and two cases in Hebbal Police limits.
DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP Gajendra Prasad supervised Alanahalli Inspector K.M. Manju and staff Shivaprasad, Chowdappa, Mallikarjunaswamy, Satish, Umesh, Ranganath, Mahesh and Bhaskar in the nabbing, recovery and seizing operation.
