Alert TTE helps recover passenger’s missing belongings

Mysuru: Following a complaint from passenger Abhishek regarding a missing laptop bag from Train No. 16585, an enquiry was conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) helped in recovery of the missing bag.

Complainant Abhishek had travelled from Holenarasipur to Mangaluru Junction during which he noticed his laptop bag was missing from his berth. The missing bag contained a Lenovo laptop valued at about Rs. 80,000, a laptop charger, a gold chain, a wristwatch and identity cards.

The passenger suspected that the bag might have gone missing between Holenarasipur and Sakleshpur, but did not know the exact location.

During checking, a person travelling by Train No. 17302 (Belagavi-Mysuru) was found in a suspicious manner by the on-duty TTE Chandra Nayak following which the person was detained and handed over to the RPF Outpost at K.R. Nagar for further action.

During enquiry, the person, identified as Basavaraj, reportedly admitted to having stolen the laptop bag from Train No. 16585 in the section between Holenarasipur and Hassan.

The detained person was subsequently handed over to the Sub-Inspector, Government Railway Police (GRP), K.R. Nagar, Mysuru, for further investigation and necessary legal action. The recovered belongings were secured and handed over to the rightful owner after due verification.

South Western Railway has appreciated the alertness and presence of mind of the on-duty TTE Chandra Nayak, whose vigilance helped in the recovery of the passenger’s belongings.
