Warns of massive protests if Police authorities fail to act
Mysuru: Advocates, who have been protesting under the banner of Mysuru Bar Association against Nazarbad Sub-Inspector Yellalinga, for allegedly assaulting advocate Gokul Govardhan, who is also the President of BJP Youth Wing on Jan.21 at the Police Station, have given two days’ time to the Police authorities to suspend the SI, failing which they have threatened of launching massive protests in city.
The members of Mysuru and Bengaluru Bar Associations, who held a meeting at the office of the Mysuru Bar Association yesterday morning, decided to submit a memorandum in this regard to the City Police Commissioner and left for the Police Chief’s office in the afternoon, where they held discussions for over 20 minutes with DCP N. Vishnuvardhana and urged him to suspend SI Yellalinga.
Speaking on the occasion, Mysuru Bar Association President G.V. Ramamurthy said that they were not protesting against the Police Department and it is not their intention to cause inconvenience to the public and added that they were seeking justice by holding protests peacefully.
He said that the CCTV footage of the incident captured by the camera installed in the Police Station be displayed and opined that if advocate Gokul Govardhan is at fault, he would be suspended from the Association and the Police can take legal action.
