Complaint lodged against four persons including ex-Corporator
Mysuru: A girl, alleging that she was cheated to the tune of Rs.12 lakh by four persons including a former Corporator who had taken the money to get a job in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), has lodged a complaint at K.R. Police Station.
The girl, identified as Yashaswini of Agrahara, has lodged a complaint against Akshath (Yashaswini’s cousin), Shekar Babu, Suresh and former Corporator Somasundar. About two years ago, Akshath, who came to Yashaswini’s house, reportedly told her that he would get Yashaswini and other job-seekers jobs at MCC as they were educated.
He told them that there were vacancies for jobs at MCC besides stating that he knew former Corporator Somasundar and if they apply for the jobs through him, they would get the jobs. Believing Akshath, Yashaswini told him that she would speak with her family members and get back to him.
According to the complaint, on June 2017, Akshath had asked Yashaswini and other job-seekers to come to a hotel to speak about the jobs. When Yashaswini and other job-seekers went there, they found three more persons including former Corporator Somasundar with Akshath. He (Akshath) introduced the others who accompanied former Corporator as Shekar Babu and Suresh.
The complaint further states that the former Corporator told them (job seekers) that he would get them the jobs and told them that each job would cost them Rs.4 lakh. He (former Corporator) further told them that Akshath, Shekar Babu and Suresh would handle the finance part and added that they would get the appointment orders in six months after they paid the money.
Yashaswini and other job-seekers spoke with the family members and in 2018, they (job seekers) deposited Rs.6 lakh to the account of Akshath and Rs.6 lakh cash was given after calling him (Akshath) to their house. In total, they had given Rs.12 lakh for three jobs.
As there was no word about the job till date, they went to the houses of Shekar Babu and Suresh and enquired during which they denied knowing them and told them that they have not taken any money from anyone. Shocked over this, the girl has lodged a complaint with K.R. Police.
Meanwhile, KR Inspector Narayanaswamy said that a case has been registered based on the complaint and investigation is going on.
He further said that the complainant has not said that former Corporator had received the money but has stated that her cousin Akshath had only introduced him at a hotel. The Inspector further said that they would conduct an investigation in this regard and take further action.
Somasundar, former Corporator said that there is no connection between me and the incident. I am not responsible if someone has used my name. I am not that type of person who would take money to get jobs and cheat. I have no information about the complaint. If there is an accusation on me, I would file a defamation case.
