Alleged harassment: Woman commits suicide, leaves behind death note

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman, alleging harassment from her mother-in-law, father-in-law and others, committed suicide by hanging self on June 26 after leaving behind a death note. Police have registered a case against five people.

The deceased woman is Bhagyalakshmi (30), wife of Hemanth Kumar and a resident of Raghavendranagar in city.

A native of MTS Layout in Bengaluru, Bhagyalakshmi was given in marriage to Hemanth on Sept. 28, 2014 and since then her husband’s family members began to harass her mentally,  it is learnt.

In her note to her husband, Bhagyalakshmi has stated, “I am very much depressed over the words spoken by your father and mother to me. I do not have anyone in favour of me. Even you do not speak nor do my parents speak in support of me. Even I have self respect. Take care of the children. Do not allow your mother to touch our children. My father-in-law said that he would hit me with slippers. Take care of the children better than me and do not leave them with your mother.”

Bhagyalakshmi’s father Shivayogi, along with the death note, has lodged a complaint against his daughter’s mother-in-law Sunandamma, father-in-law Rajanna, brother-in-law Sumanth, Sumanth’s wife Shilpa and Tailor Kumar of Bengaluru.

Nazarbad Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
