New Delhi: AM Green Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) has announced PranaviUrs Rs. 1 crore cash reward for winning and becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual gold in golf at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan yesterday.
In addition, the IGPL also announced Rs. 25 lakh individually to the Indian women’s trio Pranavi, Aditi Ashok and DikshaDagar for winning silver in the team event.
Former Union Minister and MP AnuragThakur, made the announcement on behalf of AM Green IGPL, its franchisees and partner organisations at Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi.
“India waited 24 years for a golf gold at the Asian Games and Pranavi got it for us today. Aditi, Diksha and Pranavi also brought home a team silver, so this is a big day for Indian women’s golf. I am glad AM Green IGPL has come forward straight away to reward them,” said Thakur.
India had not won a golf gold at the Asian Games since Shiv Kapur took the men’s individual title in 2002.
Pranavi’s cousin, VidhatriUrs, also a professional golfer, who was also present on the occasion said, “Since day one, I think she (Pranavi) is an aggressive player. She wants to hit the ball hard. But that’s all I can say.”

Prime Minister NarendraModi congratulated PranaviSharathUrs on winning India’s first-ever gold in Women’s Individual Golf at the Asian Games.
The Prime Minister said that her superb finish has given the nation a sporting moment to remember. He expressed hope that the victory draws more young Indians to the game and inspires them to aim for the very top.
