Amith Nadig’s flute to soothe summer heat on Sunday

JSS Sangeetha Sabha is featuring famed flautist Vid. Amith Nadig, as part of Basava Jayanthi music programme, on Sunday the 13th at Navajyotji Sabhangana, JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, at 6 pm.

Profile: Amith, a child prodigy, comes from a family of musicians. He is the son and student of Vid. B.K. Anantharam. He was under the tutelage of Padma Bhushana, Sangita Kalanidhi Dr. R.K. Srikantan for almost two years, learning the finer aspects of Gamaki style of playing the flute. Currently, he is training under Vid. Dr. R.N. Thyagarajan.

A techie, Amith has been performing on stage for over two decades all over India and abroad. His versatility enables him to adapt to playing alongside musicians from different genres like Karnatak, Hindustani, Jazz, Fusion etc., making him very sought after.

Graded ‘A’ at AIR, Amith was featured in the National Programme of Music, South Zone hook up concerts for Doordarshan, Dusseldorf Church Organ festival, Jazz Art festival, Jazz Frushling festival, Germany, Swathi Sangeethothsavam, Thiruvananthapuram Palace, Ganakala Parishat, Sangeeth Natak Academy festival, New Delhi, Madras Music Academy etc. He is a recipient of Ananya Yuva Puraskar and other accolades.

On Sunday, he will be accompanied by Vid. Vybhav Ramani on violin, Vid. Aniruddha Bhat on mridanga and Vid. Somashekar Jois on kunnakkol.All are welcome.
