Amrita University, Coimbatore, has been ranked as No. 1 private University in India and the 9th best among all Indian Universities in the country in the 2017 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking.
Amrita University comes after Indian Institute of Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Jadavpur University, Anna University, University of Hyderabad and University of Delhi.
In the overall category (considering all institutions, colleges, IITs, IIMs and Universities), Amrita has been ranked 16. The University has, under the guidance of its Chancellor Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, blossomed into a world-class University within a short span of time through its focus on research and societal outreach programmes, says a press release from the institution.
The NIRF outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations and broad understanding arrived at by a core committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various Universities and institutions which cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
TWO-DAY NATIONAL CONFERENCE: The Department of Management and Commerce, Amrita University is organising a two-day National Conference on Structural, Institutional and Financial Sector Changes (both Global and Indian) in the New Millennium and the Road Ahead on Apr. 7 and 8, at its Mysuru campus in Bogadi II Stage.
The conference will be beneficial to students, researchers, academicians and professionals from the industry in the area of economics, finance and taxation, management, information technology, healthcare, hospitality and journalism.
Papers will be presented by eminent academicians, research scholars and students and the conference aims to explore the recent trends in the structural and financial sectors in India and the world. Papers on topics like digitalisation, demonetisation, knowledge economy, GST, data-informatics, changing role of print media, etc. will be presented.
The conference will be inaugurated by Prof. Chidananda Gowda, former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University on Apr. 7 at 9.30 am.
Prof. Yashavanth Dongre, Senior Professor of Commerce, University of Mysore, will deliver the keynote address.
Dr. G. Kotreshwar, Professor and Coordinator UGC-SAP, Department of Studies in Commerce, University of Mysore, will be the keynote speaker on Apr. 8.
