Mysore/Mysuru: Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Director Dr. B. Dinesh said that Anaesthetists play a crucial role in heart surgeries.
He was speaking after inaugurating the CME programme organised by Karnataka Chapter of Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anaesthesiologists (IACTA)- Indian College of Cardiac Anaesthesia (ICCA) at Jayadeva Hospital on KRS Road here on Sunday.
Stating that though Anaesthetists are like hidden gems working within 4 walls, Dr. Dinesh maintained that their role is very big in heart surgeries. Noting that Anaesthetists will be in direct and continuous contact with Surgeons, Nurses and OT staff during surgeries, he stressed on the need for a perfect co-ordination among the entire medical staff during surgeries.
Pointing out that the status of recovery of a patient can be found out with the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Dr. Dinesh noted that there was shortage of Anaesthetists in the entire country. He further said that 8 more Anaesthetists would be appointed shortly in addition to the 38 specialists (DM-Anaesthesia qualified) already serving at Jayadeva Hospital.
Lauding the CME programme, Dr. Dinesh said the Jayadeva Hospital would extend full co-operation for such programmes.
Dr. Ranjit Karthikeyan, Dr. Muralidhar, Dr. Manjunath, Dr. Parimala, Dr. Prabhakar, Dr. Manjula, Dr. K.S. Bharathi, Dr. Nanjappa, Dr. Harsha Basappa, Dr. Ranjith, Dr. Jayasheelan, PROs Vani Mohan, Champakamala and others were present.
