Anganwadi workers stage protest

Mysore/Mysuru: Opposing State Government’s decision to start LKG and UKG classes in Government Schools, Anganwadi workers staged protest opposite ZP office yesterday.

Under the banner of AITUC-affiliated Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Federation, Anganwadi workers raised slogans against the Government and urged the State Government to continue pre-primary education of children in Anganwadi centres, instead of starting them at Government Schools in the State.

They also demanded the State Government to provide honorarium of Rs. 3,000 to Anganwadi workers on COVID duty. Their other demands included release of pending NPS funds and providing honorarium to Anganwadi workers working under Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana and work related to Bhagyalakshmi Bond.

Federation office-bearers C. Girija, Mahadevamma, D. Jagannath, Sowmya and others took part in the protest.
