Mysore/Mysuru: The 9th Annual General Meeting of the Mysore District Deaf Association was held at Rahul Convention Hall in Vishweshwaranagar here recently. The newly-elected President of the Association, S. Murthy, and his wife were present.
Over 200 members attended the meeting including representatives from other districts. During the meeting, children of the Association members received notebooks and school bags, and financial assistance was provided to five children to cover their school fees.
Additionally, 15 members who had participated in various national-level chess competitions, were felicitated. S. Adish, who took part in an International chess competition, was awarded a cash incentive of Rs. 5,000.
The chief guest of the event, K.S. Raghavendra, District Disabled Welfare (DDW) Officer, provided comprehensive information about the Government facilities available to the Association members and office bearers. He assured the Association of full cooperation in the future.
B. Elangovan, Principal of the JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Disabled (JSS PDA), also addressed the gathering and outlined the facilities offered at his college.
In a generous gesture, S. Murthy, the President of Mysore District Deaf Association, Mysuru, donated Rs. 1 lakh to the Association. He expressed his commitment, along with his team, to ensure that the community leads financially independent lives in the days to come.
