Anti-social elements assault two youths in city

Mysuru: It seems that the menace of anti-social elements and drunkards has increased in city following the assault on two youths in Kuvempunagar Police limits in city last night.

The youths who were assaulted are 25-year-old Raghavendra Naik, son of Hunsur Deputy Tahsildar Mahadeva Naik and his friend 25-year-old Kishore.

They were assaulted when they were returning after dropping a friend to his home at about 11.30 pm. A group of four miscreants, who came on two bikes, assaulted Raghavendra and Kishore besides damaging the car and speeding away.

Meanwhile, Kuvempunagar Inspector Raju said that a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) was being prepared this morning besides stating that the Police have seized the vehicle and are conducting investigation.

Mysuru is known for peace and harmony and it is also known as a safe place for senior citizens who are found walking in parks till about 11.30 pm. The public are wondering, what would happen to them if miscreants attack them?

Miscreants waylaying vehicles and making away with the valuables of the occupants have been reported in city which gives rise to questions whether the Police Department is functioning correctly or not and who would protect the public.

The public have urged the Police to take steps to prevent such incidents before the menace of such anti-social elements increase further in city.
