Apollo BGS Hospitals successfully completes 100 liver transplants

November 18, 2024

Mysuru: Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, the only multi-organ transplant centre in the region, has achieved a major milestone by completing 100 liver transplants.

A pioneer in organ transplantation in the region, this hospital obtained its license for kidney transplants in 2003, followed by liver transplants in 2017. In 2020, it secured the license to perform multi-organ transplants, becoming the region’s first licensed Organ Transplant Centre (OTC).

The hospital’s high transplant success rate is attributed to its expert in-house surgeons, a dedicated multidisciplinary team comprising transplant specialists, anaesthetists, intensivists and physicians, alongside an eminent  pool of surgeons.

The hospital has highly sophisticated and well-designed operation theatres (OT), which are essential for optimising patients before transplantation. The hospital features dedicated ICUs to ensure superior post-operative care. Advanced laboratories enable comprehensive tests and investigations. Cutting-edge radiology facilities ensure accurate diagnostics and monitoring. These facilities make Apollo BGS Hospitals a leading choice for organ transplants.

N.G. Bharateesha Reddy, Vice-President & Unit Head, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru; Dr. Rajkumar P. Wadhwa, Chief Gastroenterologist and Head of the Institutes of Gastroenterology; Dr. Jayanth Reddy, Senior Consultant, Comprehensive Liver Care, HPB Surgery & Multi-organ Transplant Surgeon; Dr. Sanjay Govil, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplantation; Dr. Sandeep Satsangi, Senior Consultant, Hepatologist & Liver Transplant Physician; Dr. Aathira Ravindranath, Consultant, Paediatric Gastroenterology and Dr. Sagar Narayan, Associate Consultant, Liver Transplant Surgeon, who were present at the press conference, highlighted their expertise and the hospital’s remarkable milestone of completing 100 liver transplants.
