Mysore/Mysuru: City’s renowned Bharatanatyam and Performer Guru Dr. Kripa Phadke (Director of Nrityagiri Academy of Performing Arts and Research Centre) has been appointed as the President of Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy by the Government of Karnataka.
Dr. Kripa Phadke, who is serving in the field of arts since 30 years, hails from Belthangady of Dakshina Kannada district. She is the disciple of Nritya Kala Sindhu Kamalaksha Achar and Natyacharya K. Muralidhara Rao. She holds a Post-Graduation degree in Sanskrit, Veena and Dance respectively and also a Ph.D under the able guidance of Dr. Rukmini from the University of Mysore.
She is serving as the first woman Secretary of city’s renowned cultural institution ‘Ganabharathi,’ also serving as Nritya Vidha Pramukh for National Organisation ‘Samskara Bharathi,’ a member of prestigious Sarada Vilas Institutions, as a lecturer in the Department of Bharatanatyam at Karnataka State Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysuru and training hundreds of students through her institution ‘Nrityagiri.’
An accomplished artiste, she has been recognised and conferred with Karnataka State Balavikas Award, Kittur Chennamma Award and many more. She aims to give back to society through Swami Vivekananda’s inspirational words: “Art is not only for entertainment but for enlightenment.”
