Apprenticeship Mela for ITI students held

421 students selected for training by various companies

Mysore/Mysuru: KSOU Placement Cell and Industrial Training and Employment Department had jointly organised an Apprentice Mela for candidates who have passed ITI courses or pursuing their final year at KSOU auditorium in city on Monday.

In all, 431 candidates participated in the mela out of which 421 candidates were selected for apprenticeship training by various companies. Thirteen companies including Product Promoters, Automotive Axles Ltd, Ferro Foundries Pvt. Ltd, Rane Madras Ltd., Kaynes Technology India Pvt. Ltd., South India Paper Mills Ltd., Nanjangud, PLANSEE India High Performance Materials Pvt. Ltd., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-VST Diesel Engines,  BEML etc. took part in the Mela.

KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar who inaugurated the Mela said that ITI students should not develop inferiority complexes. “Many students who have finished their ITI courses fail to acquire a suitable job. Students while pursuing their course must do hard work and train themselves as professionals.”

Pointing out that ITI students have a diverse job opportunity,  the VC said that Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) aims to connect the youths with more opportunities of on-ground training within corporates and provide a chance to get employment.

Industrial Training and Employment Department Joint Director S. Manjula, who too spoke, said that throughout India PMNAM Mela will be held at 31 Districts in all the States. “Under our division, the Mela is being held at two places. We are lacking the whereabouts of ITI students. Hence this Apprenticeship Mela specially aims to provide training to those candidates and help them in getting jobs,” she said.

KSOU Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna, Employment Officer and Economics Department Head Dr. R.H. Pavithra, Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Assistant Director Rajesh Kumar and others were present.
