Archana to perform at Raaga on Feb.16

February 14, 2019

Raaga Music Academy is presenting a vocal concert by Vidu. L. Archana on its monthly music platform, on Saturday (Feb. 16) at 5.30 pm at Prajna Kuteera Ayurveda Centre, Vishwamanava Double Road, Kuvempunagar.

Archana hails from a musically-oriented family, with ‘Haridasa Sahitya Gana Ratna’ Vid. Koviladi Rangarajan, a renowned musician of Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, who initiated her into Karnatak Classical music. Currently she is under the tutelage of her mother ‘Sangeetha Madhuri’ ‘Kala Deepti’ Vidu. Koviladi R. Kala, a well-known Guru and performer. Rigorous training, strict adherence to classicism, clarity in conception and ease in execution has set her apart in a field now dominated by very many talented artistes.

Archana, graded B by AIR, has accompanied her mother and also performed solo concerts for well over 15 years and has received excellent reviews from music connoisseurs, critics, established artistes and the media. Her penchant for Ragam Tanam Pallavi (RTP) has made her compose many intricate Pallavis too. This rank holding Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary is also a topper in Music (Senior) examination conducted by the Government of Karnataka. Winner of many awards/accolades like Kishora Prathibe and M.S. Subbalakshmi award for RTP, she is also a finalist in the National-level Naad Bhed competition conducted by SPICMACAY and Doordarshan.

On Saturday, she is being accompanied by Vid. B.K. Raghu on the violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on the mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on the ghata — all seasoned accompanists.

Prior to the concert, Dr. N.V. Krishnamurthy, Director, Prajna Kuteera, will be giving a talk on ‘Healthy living through Ayurveda and Yoga’ from 4.30 pm to 5.15 pm at the same venue. For more details, contact Ph: 0821-2542069 or Mob: 9449703610.
