Archers inaugurate artist Ganjifa Raghupathi Bhat’s art works at Rangayana premises

Prelude to staging of Sri Ramayana Darshanam from this evening

Mysuru: Artist Ganjifa Raghupathi Bhat’s art works on ‘Sri Ramayana Darshanam’ was inaugurated in a novel way this morning with archers L. Dikshit Raj and K. Venkatesh hitting the bull’s eye at Rangayana premises this morning as a prelude to staging of the four-and-a-half-hour play ‘Sri Ramayana Darshanam.’

There are 12 works of arts on display as part of the play ‘Sri Ramayana Darshanam’ adapted from Kuvempu’s epic poem of the same name. City’s repertory Rangayana in association with Kannada and Culture Department is presenting the play at Bhoomigeeta from this evening which marks the 50th anniversary of Jnanpith award to poet laureate Kuvempu.

Raghupathi Bhat depicts the various stages of Kuvempu’s Sri Ramayana Darshanam in these 12 works like Sri Rama shooting an arrow at Ravana as one of the themes.

On the occasion photographer Nethra Raju, who has captured the making of ‘Sri Ramayan Darshanam’ backstage by Designer H. Dwarkanath, was also inaugurated.

Rangayana Director Bhagirathi Bai Kadam, Joint Director Mallikarjuna Swamy, Karnataka State-level Archery Coach B.M. Anil Kumar and others were present.

Rehearsal held

The artistes rehearsed wearing costumes last evening at Bhoomigeeta.

The theatre lovers who are eager to see the adapted play of Kuvempu’s epic poem ‘Sri Ramayana Darshanam’ by City’s theatre repertory Rangayana, in association with Kannada and Culture Department at Bhoomigeeta, are in for a huge disappointment as the tickets for all the four days from today till Nov.18 are already sold out. The play will begin from 6 pm daily.
