Army Tank for General Thimayya Museum arrives at Madikeri

Madikeri: An Army Tank that is a remnant of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war has arrived in Madikeri yesterday. The tank will be placed at “Sunny Side,” Gen. K.S. Thimayya’s house that is being converted into a museum.

The tank was transported by road from Kirkee War Cemetery at Khadki, a town near Pune in Maharashtra, to the General Thimayya Museum.

Meanwhile, Kodagu Deputy Commissioner P.I. Sreevidya held a meeting at Madikeri yesterday to review the progress of museum construction. The meeting that was held at her office was attended by Lieutenant General B.C. Nanda, Colonel Subbaiah, Major Nanjappa, journalist U.M. Poovaiah, former Kodava Sahitya Academy Chairman B.S. Thammaiah, Sachin from Nirmiti Kendra and others.

The State Government has released Rs. 2.30 crore to renovate “Sunny Side” that earlier housed the RTO Office. The meeting discussed the progress of the works and steps to be taken to convert it into a befitting museum.
