Mysuru: The Series-43 of Articulate (Mys) Festival to be held at Prof. Y.T. Thathachari auditorium in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Vijayanagar 1st Stage, here today (Nov.3) at 6 pm, will feature performances from the following artistes:
R. Aparna Kodankiri is one among the budding artiste in the art of Bharatanatyam. Aparna, under the guidance of Guru Vid. Mithra Naveen of Nadavidyalaya Academy of Music and Dance, Hebbal, accomplished proficiency in the dance form and is training for post Vidwat in Bharatanatyam.
Her inborn talent of ‘Abhinaya,’ command on ‘Nrutta’ and ‘Nrutya’ has been applauded. Her performance in lead roles of her Guru’s dance features has received appreciations. She excels even in Nattuvanga and has been supporting her Guru in concerts of fellow artistes. She conducts workshops especially in the rural districts of the State. She has the credit of co-choreographing the dance feature ‘Nala-Damayanti.’
S.D. Sneha, disciple of Vidu. M.L. Varija Nalige, who is the senior most disciple of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, has been practicing Bharatanatyam in Pandanallur style. She did her Arangetram in March 2017. She has completed senior exams in Bharatanatyam conducted by KSEEB with distinction, being the second highest scorer in senior exam 2017 for Mysuru district and currently getting trained to take up Vidwat exams. She holds M.Tech in Structural Engineering from NIE, Mysuru.
Suraksha Dixit’s dance journey began under Vidu. Bhanu Chidanand at Hassan, meandered through the portals of Guru Vidu. Rekha Ashok Hegde, at Belagavi, under whom she completed her Junior Grade, now furthering under Guru Vidu. Nandini Eswer and at Nrityagiri Performing Arts and Research Centre, Mysuru, guided by Natya Vidushi Dr. Kripa Phadke. Suraksha has completed her Proficiency Grade in Bharatanatyam securing 2nd rank in Mysuru and did her Rangapravesha in February 2018. She is also receiving training from Guru Vidu. Bhanumati, Bengaluru. Suraksha has participated in workshop of Padma Bhushan Dr. Padma Subramanyam. She has more than 17 years of dance experience.
She is the recipient of CCRT Scholarship from Ministry of Culture and Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy. Suraksha practices yoga under Yoga Guru Dr. Raghavendra R. Pai, Karnatak music under Vidu. Bhagyalaxmi and is involved in theatre and folk arts. She is now pursuing Master’s in Sanskrit at Manasagangothri, Mysuru. She also works as Bharatanatyam trainer at ‘Beyond Taalas,’ Mysuru.
Karthik B. Shetty introduced himself in the art of dancing through contemporary dance arts. He was enticed by the vibrant art of Kathak, dominated by male dancers in the history of its making, attracted him to Guru Mysore B. Nagaraj to be trained in the Jaipur and Lucknow Gharanas.
His training for nearly a decade has taken him across the country and has won accolades for his performances. He has donned active roles in the productions of and as a member of performing unit of Articulate Dance Studios.
Choreography has been his additional passion which has attracted educational institution making him part of their cultural activities. He runs his own Kathak and Contemporary Dance Studios “Karthi’s Performing Arts” and is a Bachelor’s Degree holder from Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru and Master’s Degree in Visual Arts from Ken School of Arts.
