Mysore/Mysuru: With a view to create political awareness among Arya Vysya community and promote those who are interested to join politics, Arya Vysya Political Committee was formed and was inaugurated at Kalamandira here on Sunday last.
MLA G.T. Devegowda inaugurated the Committee and addressed the gathering.
Karnataka Arya Vysya Community Development Corporation Chairman D.S. Arun, speaking on the occasion said, “To know more about the population of Arya Vysya community in each district and their living condition, over the last few months, I have been travelling all across the State. Our community members need to participate actively in the political process and voice our demands, which can be fulfilled only if we have political strength and unity.”
Earlier, Committee members submitted a memorandum to MLA G.T. Devegowda and urged him to fulfil their demands. The memorandum mentions that over 30 percent of the Arya Vysya families were facing poverty were not supported by the State Government in any way. Over 80 percent of community members are involved in business and other such related fields and are promptly paying taxes. Considering the above, the memorandum urged the State Government to provide proper representation for the community members by actively involving them in various Boards and Corporations, as there are over 10 lakh Arya Vysyas living in the State.
MLAs L. Nagendra and H.P. Manjunath, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, Corporators M.V. Ramprasad, M. Satish and M.C. Ramesh, Hon. President of Arya Vysya Political Committee S.K. Dinesh, Committee President K.R. Narayana Murty, Vice-President Saraswathi Prasad, General Secretary Puttu Srinivas and others were present.
