Mysore/Mysuru: Twenty days after boycotting work and seeking fulfilment of their various demands, ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) workers, who are among the frontline warriors in the Government’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, called off their strike and returned to work on Thursday.
The ASHA workers were on strike since July 10.
The Karnataka Rajya Samyukta ASHA Karyakarteyara Sangha said that it has called off the strike after the Government agreed to fulfil some of their demands, which chiefly included monthly honorarium of Rs.12,000 and PPE kits for all workers who are out on the field.
D. Nagalakshmi, State Secretary of the Sangha said that the decision was taken following meetings with Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Health Minister B. Sriramulu earlier this week, who assured that their demands will be fulfilled.
