Asian Games 2018: Shooter Sanjeev Rajput wins silver, wrestler Divya Kakran bags bronze

Jakarta/ Palembang: On Day 4, India’s medal rush has begun with Ankita Raina in the Women’s Singles as she qualified for the semi-final, thus assuring India of another medal. Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat have sealed their berths in the 25m Pistol event.

Gymnastics ace Dipa Karmakar will skip the Artistic team final due to a small injury she picked up at practice. In swimming, India are through to the Men’s 4x100m freestyle final.

In Rowing, Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh have a shot at a Bronze medal after topping the repechage round in the men’s lightweight double sculls.

Day 3: Ace India shooter Sanjeev Rajput continued his good habit of winning medals at the Asian Games as the 37-year-old won the silver medal in the Men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event at the JSC Shooting Range in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old shooter from Haryana missed out the top spot by a whisker as ended up just 0.4 point behind the eventual gold medallist. Rajput shot a phenomenal 452.7, while China’s Hui Zicheng took the Gold with a score of 453.3.

Divya Kakran added the first bronze to India’s wrestling tally at the 18th Asian Games, beating Taipei’s Chen Wenling in the third-place play-off bout for the 68kg category on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old Asian championships silver-medallist prevailed on account of Technical Superiority with the final scoreline reading 10-0.

The Indian men’s Sepak Takraw Regu team created history on the day-3 of the Asian Games by winning the bronze medal at the Asian Games.

The men’s Regu team had to settle for bronze after they were defeated by the current world champions Thailand.

Apart from that, the Indian wushu contingent guaranteed four medals for the country.
