Lucknow: The post-mortem report of IAS officer Anurag Tiwari, who was found dead in mysterious conditions outside a VIP guest house in Lucknow, has stated asphyxia as the cause of his death.
The post-mortem was conducted by a panel of four doctors, including a head of forensic medicine Ashok Kumar Verma. The report mentions that deep cut marks below his chin and injuries to his face and hands are suggestive of the fact that he grappled with the assailants before he died.
The dried blood stains were proof of him lying face up around his death and could have been dumped face down, on the road opposite the guest house he was staying at, in order to conceal the murder. The report specifies that he passed urine before his death, indicating that he was either smothered or strangled. The presence of 520 ml of semi/undigested food (according to the post-mortem report) in Tiwari’s stomach indicates that he could well have been murdered between 1 am and 2 am, the night before since it is established that he had dinner around 10 pm.
If the death had occurred around 5.30 am, as suggested by the Police, the food would have got fully digested as per forensic experts.
“Viscera and blood will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for special test and on the basis of the report the cause of the death will be ascertained,” the doctor said. An expert team from a renowned test agency will also be roped in for the test.
Earlier, the murder case of the IAS officer was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “It has been decided that the investigation will be transferred to the CBI,” Principal Home Secretary Arvind Kumar said.
This came after the family members of the slain officer registered an FIR with the Police in Lucknow against unknown persons under the section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and made a demand that the case should to be handed over to the CBI.
