Assault case: City girl writes to Prime Minister’s Office

Intelligence Department collects details of the incident   

Mysuru; Twenty-two-year-old Mahalakshmi, a resident of Vijayanagar 3rd Stage in city, who was allegedly assaulted near a pub at Panchavati Circle in V.V. Mohalla on Saturday evening, has written to the Prime Minister  Office (PMO) seeking justice and the same has been acknowledged by the PMO.

Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, the assault victim clarified that she was unmarried and not the wife of one of the accused Umesh Kumar as reported yesterday. She (Mahalakshmi) is the friend of Umesh Kumar’s wife who is seeking a divorce.

Mahalakshmi said that yesterday morning the officials from the Intelligence Department had called her over the phone and have collected the details of the incident from her.

She further said that about one-and-a-half years ago, when she and her friend had been to Café Coffee Day in Maddur, accused Umesh and Vivek, who came there began to consume liquor which was objected by the staff there, following which they (Umesh and Vivek) threw bottles which fell on Mahalakshmi and                          her friend.

When Mahalakshmi objected, Umesh and Vivek allegedly assaulted her following which she lodged a complaint at Maddur Police Station and the case is before a Court, she added. She further said that she was being pressurised to withdraw the complaint and it was only after one-and-a-half years she came face-to-face with Umesh and Vivek on Saturday.
