At hour of grief, accident victim’s kin consent for organ donation

Mysore/Mysuru: The family members of a 41-year-old man, who was declared brain dead after suffering grievous head injuries in a motorbike accident, gave their consent for organ donation, here on Friday.

K.K. Rajesh, an Insurance Advisor and son of Krishne Gowda and Sharadamma couple, Katte Kyathanahalli village in K.R. Pet taluk, Mandya district, is the deceased.

Rajesh had suffered injuries in the accident that occurred at Sharadadevinagar on Oct. 25. He had been admitted to a private hospital in the city but his condition had worsened as he had suffered severe damages in the brain. After all efforts made to retrieve his condition proved futile, the doctors treating him declared him brain dead on Friday afternoon, it is said.

Rajesh’s wife Arpitha, an employee of MCC and mother Sharadamma consented for organ donation, which drew wide appreciation from others for showing humanity at the hour of grief.

The last rites were performed at his native Katte Kyathanahalli yesterday afternoon.

Rajesh is survived by his parents, wife and two sons, father-in-law A.L. Kempugowda (President of Mandya District Raitha Sangha), a large number of relatives and friends.

Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah, Raitha Sangha leader Suneetha Puttannaiah and several other leaders have condoled Rajesh’s death.
