Athletes and members of various organisations braced the chilly morning yesterday to take part in the Mandya Marathon organised by Kayakayogi Foundation, Organic Mandya, Ananya Arts, Arunodaya Trust and others organisations to create awareness on Kannada language, here yesterday.
The marathon was held for the athletes between the age group of 10 and 70 years. Athletes from Mandya, Mysuru, Davanagere, Ramanagar and other districts participated in the event. This apart, students, home-makers and senior citizens also run the marathon in support of the cause. Earlier, flagging off the marathon Senior Judge Mansoor Ahmed Jamaan spoke on the importance of sports activities and staying physically fit. Later, MLC K.T. Srikanthegowda distributed the prizes to the winners in various categories.
