Attempt to register property by forging signature: Three including husband of Town Municipal Council Member arrested

K.R. Nagar: K.R. Police have arrested three persons including the husband of Town Municipal Council Member for cheating and trying to register property by forging signatures.

Those arrested are K.M. Ramesh and his wife C. Rohini, residents of Srirama Layout in the town and Puttaswamy, husband of the Town Municipal Council Member, also a resident of the same Ward.

Details: On Sept. 3, K.M. Ramesh and his wife C. Rohini had gone to the Sub-Registrar’s Office in the town to get their property registered which was in a joint khata.

When the Sub-Registrar was examining the khata extracts, he found some changes in the signature of the Chief Officer in the khata extract and immediately informed about it to Town Municipal Council Chief Officer K. Shivanna.

Shivanna, who examined the document, confirmed that it was the forged signature of Chief Officer Nagashetty, who had served in 2018 and lodged a complaint at the Town Police Station, urging for legal action.

Circle Inspector P.K. Raju, Sub-Inspector V. Chethan and staff, based on the complaint, arrested the accused and during interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of forging the signature. They (accused) were produced before a Court, who remanded them to judicial custody.

There were many complaints from the public that fake documents of properties in the Town Municipal Council limits were being created, khatas were being made and properties were being sold, which were also highlighted in the media. Now the accused have fallen in the net. Legal action would be taken and they would be sent to jail, irrespective of which political party they belong to. There is no compromise in it, says S.T. Somashekar, District in-Charge Minister.
