Australian Open Masters Athletics: City’s athlete Thanuj Kumar wins bronze

K. Thanuj Kumar, taking part in the Australian Masters Athletic event held at Melbourne, Australia, from Apr.26 to 28, won bronze medal in the 10,000 mts under 35-plus Men’s category with a timing of 37.07m. He also took part in the 35-plus Men’s 5000 mts and secured fifth place. The event was attended by athletes from eight countries including Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Great Britain, Canada and India.

An employee of Infosys from Mysuru, who is currently on a deputation to Melbourne, Thanuj Kumar has represented Mysore District Masters Athletic Association at various State and National events. He takes part in half-marathons across Australia and is also set to run as a pacer at the prestigious Gold Coast Half Marathon for the fourth year in a row.
