Auto driver killed, three Policemen injured in auto-car collision

Mysore/Mysuru: An auto driver was killed and three policemen travelling in the auto sustained serious injuries in a head on collision between the auto and a car near KSRTC Layout on Mysuru-T. Narasipur road yesterday.

The deceased auto driver has been identified as Shivakumar (38) of Hosahundi village in Varuna Hobli of the taluk, while the injured policemen have been identified as ASIs Krishnamurthy & Subramani and Head Constable Ravi, all three attached to Devaraja Traffic Police Station. They are being treated at a private hospital in the city.

The three traffic policemen had boarded Shivakumar’s auto (KA-55-7154) to attend a house warming ceremony of their colleague on Friday afternoon. As the auto was travelling on Mysuru-T.Narasipur road, a speeding car (KA-53/MA 1300) coming from the opposite direction, rammed into the auto near KSRTC Layout, when all the four sustained serious injuries.

They were immediately rushed to a private Hospital, where Shivakumar succumbed to the injuries. The car occupants fled from the spot soon after the accident, it is learnt.

Siddarthanagar Traffic Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
