Auto drivers told to follow traffic rules during Dasara

Mysuru: Devaraja Traffic Police Inspector Prasad yesterday held a meeting with auto drivers and instructed them to strictly follow traffic rules and maintain a friendly and dignified approach towards tourists and the general public during Dasara.

The meeting was held at the Devaraja Police Station and was attended by more than 50 auto drivers. Inspector Prasad directed the drivers to cooperate with the Police during document verification and wear prescribed uniforms while on duty. He also instructed them not to park their vehicles along the Jumboo Savari route and warned them against drunken driving.

The drivers were also advised to avoid playing loud music while driving and refrain from creating disturbances or engaging in activities that could cause inconvenience to the public.

Inspector Prasad specifically cautioned auto drivers against overcharging tourists visiting Mysuru for the festivities. He urged them to deal with passengers politely and maintain a professional relationship with the public.

Warning that strict action would be taken against drivers who violate traffic rules, overcharge customers, behave rudely or harass passengers, he appealed to the drivers to cooperate with the Police and help ensure a smooth Dasara.

Members of the public can contact the City Police through the emergency number 112 or approach the nearest Police Station to lodge complaints against auto drivers, he said.

Sub-Inspectors Keerthi and Prabhu were present.
