Mysuru – The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway (SWR) celebrated the 62nd Railway Week on Apr. 12.
Speaking on the occasion, Atul Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), SWR, Mysuru Division, said that Mysuru Division had won Efficiency Shields for Medical & Safety branches for the year 2016-17 which were presented by General Manager, SWR at Hubballi a few days ago.
Highlighting the performance of the Division in the FY 2016-17, Gupta said that Mysuru Division had transported 4.815 million tonnes of originating freight. The overall revenue of the Division stood at Rs. 608.97 crore, he said and added that the total number of originating passengers carried was 4.82 crore.
Gupta informed that 35 level crossing gates in the Division were eliminated in 2016-17 aimed at achieving higher safety and productivity.
He also listed various passenger amenity works executed in the Division such as escalators, lifts and subway at Mysuru, development of Kabakaputtur station under Adarsh station norms, extension of platform/platform shelters, provision of Point Of Sale (PoS) machines at 39 locations to ease rush in ticket counters, free high speed WiFi at Mysuru Station, etc.
The DRM said that the Innovation Cell of the Division had been successful in rolling out 11 innovative schemes with eight of them already having been implemented.
The major innovation being deployment of drones for survey of vulnerable 55-km ghat section from Sakaleshpur to Subramanya Road, he added.
Employees from different branches of the Division were honoured on this occasion for their outstanding contribution during the Financial Year 2016-17. A total of 109 individual and 13 group awards were distributed. Cultural programmes were also organised.
