Awareness Jatha for ‘Special’ voters

Mysuru: A massive Jatha marked voter awareness campaign for specially abled persons, jointly organised by the District SVEEP Committee, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), JSS Polytechnic for Differently Abled and other organisations in city yesterday.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath flagged off the rally at Bisilu Maramma Temple in T.K. Layout.

Speaking on the occasion, he  highlighted the special measures taken by the Election Commission to facilitate voting by specially abled persons and appealed them to exercise their franchise in the LS polls without fail.

The Jatha passed through AIISH and RIE before culminating at JSS Polytechnic for Differently Abled in SJCE campus, where a documentary that explained the entire procedure of voting for differently abled was exhibited.

DC and District Election Officer Abhiram G. Sankar, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, University of Mysore’s DoS in Political Science and Public Administration Head Dr. Krishna Hombal, International Paralympic athlete Ramachandra, MCC Zone 6 Assistant Commissioner Kusuma Kumari, JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Abled Principal G. Elangovan, faculty Abhikumar, JSS S&TU VC Dr. B.G. Sangameshwara and others were present during the inauguration.
