Awareness on misuse of facilities for specially-abled

Mysuru: ‘Yuva Bharat,’ a city-based organisation, yesterday conducted an awareness programme for those misusing the vehicle parking space reserved for the specially-abled in city.

The members of Yuva Bharat identified 30 such parking spaces in the city which had been occupied by normal people. The programme was started from the RTO (West) office where the activists issued a duplicate physically-handicapped certificate to a person who had parked his motorbike at the place reserved for the specially-abled besides garlanding him.

Speaking on the occasion, International specially-abled athlete Ramachandra said that the specially-abled were denied their rights for reserved seats in trains and buses as it was always occupied by normal people.

He also urged the authorities to reserve 5 percent seats in education, government jobs, employment, sports and other fields.

Yuva Bharat Convenor J. Manju, International Specially-abled athletes Manjunath, Ramachandra, Mani, Vijaykumar, KMPK Trust’s Vikram Iyengar and others were present.
