Awareness Prog. on ‘Legal Rights of Women’

‘Show zero tolerance for harassment of women’

Mysuru:  An awareness programme on ‘Legal Rights of Women’ was organised by ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE), Mysuru in association with National Commission for Women recently. The event was inaugurated by Dr. K. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Principal, Police Training School, Mysuru.

Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti shared her abundant knowledge and stressed on the importance of rights of women. She said that, “In this society both men and women have equal rights in all aspects and woman has to be strong enough in her career. Now-a-days government has implemented so many laws and amendments to help the women who are in need. Women should also identify their strengths and abilities, and move towards empowerment.” She also informed the students to show zero tolerance for the harassment towards women.

The programme was presided by Dr. L. Basavaraj, Principal, ATMECE. In his presidential address he mentioned that, “in the last few decades women have come across many problems from the society; and have overcome most of their troubles and have stood strongly. Women are moving ahead in fields such as technical, medical, social and many others. We have a live example in our college — when we observe the ratio of boy and girl students, girl students are in majority. This reflects that women are empowered in the society.”

The programme was convened by Dr.  S.R. Bhagya Shree, Professor and Organising Chair and M.K.  Prathibha, Associate Professor, Dept. of ECE, ATMECE, Mysuru. The faculty programme coordinators were C. Chandrashekar, N.B.  Priyanka,K.  Divya, D.N.  Jyothi, N. Harshitha, S. Kavya, M. Pooja and Srilakshmi Prasad, Asst. Professors from various departments of ATMECE, Mysuru. More than 700 students took part in the quiz competition.
