A special lecture programme on ‘Importance of Solar Energy and Utilisation of Renewable Resources’ was organised at Basudev Somani College, Kuvempunagar, recently.

The event was held in association with Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), Bengaluru, to create awareness among the  students and faculty. D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Officer and resource person, KREDL, highlighted the importance and usage of renewable resources like Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Hydropower and Bio-Energy without causing any harm to the nature.

He also stressed the need for spreading environmental awareness and encouraging the citizens to maximise the usage of renewable resources.

A quiz competition and poster presentation related to renewable energy was held on this occasion for students. Certificates and gift of solar home lights were given to the winners.

Principal Dr. M. Mahadevaiah, teaching & non-teaching staff and students were present.
