Mysore/Mysuru: Marking the 75th year of Indian independence, a week-long ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations will be held across K.R. Constituency from Aug. 8 to 14.
Announcing this at a press meet at a Private Hotel in Lakshmipuram here this morning, K.R. MLA S.A. Ramdas said that as a first step, 23 MUDA-approved private layouts coming under MCC Wards 64 and 65 (Aravind Nagar and Srirampura), were handed over by MUDA to MCC yesterday (Aug. 8) for regular maintenance and upkeep, thus meeting the long-pending demand of residents.
From today (Aug. 9), music programmes involving patriotic songs will be held in all the 19 MCC Wards coming under the constituency, for five days (till Aug. 13). Also, a programme will be held at Chamundipuram Circle (Tagadur Ramachandra Rao Circle) at 5.30 pm today (Aug. 9), he added.
Continuing, Ramdas said that only 1,000 property owners in Ashokapuram have been issued Title Deeds, while 3,000 others are still seeking the same even after decades of struggle. But now, taking note of the plight of property owners, the authorities have decided to issue Title Deeds along with Khata and Revenue Tax to the remaining 3,000 property owners of Ashokapuram, at a programme to take place at the Government School opposite Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park in Ashokapuram on Aug. 11.
On Aug. 12, Prabhat Pheri (procession) involving school and college students, will be taken out from near the Palace at 9.30 am. The procession will march through the main thoroughfares of the city before culminating at Vidyaranyapuram’s Bhutale Grounds. Hundreds of students from Government and aided educational institutions studying in Classes 6 and above, will take part in the Prabhat Pheri, he said adding that the winners of various contests and competitions will be distributed prizes on the occasion. He further said that students will perform a musical band that involves patriotic songs.
Referring to ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Ramdas said that the National Flag will be hoisted atop 2,000 homes in each of the Ward coming under K.R. Assembly segment and this target will be achieved by Aug. 13.
Highlighting that a widespread campaign has been launched for ensuring the success of ‘Har Ghar Trianga’ campaign, he sought the co-operation of everyone for hoisting flags atop atleast 50,000 homes on Independence Day.
Announcing that the trial run for making all the 19 Wards of the constituency borewell-free will be started, he said that the works on connecting more than 500 borewells to parks is going on a war-footing. Asserting that so far, more than 400 borewells have been taken out from domestic water distribution system, the MLA said that thus far, 100 borewells have been connected to parks. This is the first step towards making the constituency a borewell-free one when the country is celebrating the 75th year of independence, he added.
On Aug. 14, a massive bike rally, with youths from all the 19 Wards coming under K.R. Assembly segment carrying the Tricolour, will be taken out on all prominent roads of the city, before culminating near the Palace at 6 pm.
Ramdas appealed the citizens to celebrate this special Independence Day on Aug. 15 by hoisting the National Flag atop their homes and distributing sweets in their neighbourhood.
