Mysuru: Additional Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kumar has asked officials to work hard to implement the Kaushalya Karnataka (Skill Development) Programme, an ambitious scheme of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah to create jobs and make youth self-reliant.

He was holding a review meeting regarding the number of registrations under the Kaushalya Abhivridhi Yojane and the progress so far, at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here on Monday. He said, nearly 5 lakh youth (both boys and girls) in the State have to be trained under Kaushalya scheme and about 70 per cent jobs have to be created for them. In this direction, the district and the taluk level officials have to strive hard to meet the target.

The training has to be imparted district-wise, according to various Departments’ plans. The target set for Mysuru District is 25,000 out of which 20 percent is for SC, 7 for ST, 3 for specially-abled and 15 percent for minorities, he said.

The aim of this programme is to identify the youth who want to acquire skills in particular jobs and hence large amount of data needs to be gathered, he said.

Poor response in CM’s home district

In all, 3,25,000 people have registered under Kaushalya Abhivridhi Yojane in the State, out of which 48,000 in Raichur, 41,633 in Kalaburagi, 39,274 in Ballari and 28,973 in Belagavi have registered which has more than the target figure.

However, in the Chief Minister’s home district only 3,500 people have registered for which the Additional Chief Secretary expressed his displeasure. He directed the officials to make all efforts to exceed the target.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep said that all the officials should strive hard to achieve the target set. If they cooperate and work together then they can even exceed the target, he added.

Zilla Panchayat CEO P. Shivashankar, District Employment Officer Vishwanath Bharani, Mysuru Tahsildar Ramesh Babu and Tahsildars from the district were present at the meeting.
