Badanaval Khadi unit revival in six months

Nanjangud: Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena has announced that Narendra Modi Government is always ready to revive the Badanaval Khadi Unit which Mahatma Gandhi visited.

He was speaking after launching 15 looms and 50 new spinning wheels (charaka) distributed at Badanaval and inaugurating three renovated rooms, here recently. The Unit started by four Scheduled Caste (SC) women thrived in just a couple of years but declined later. The unit will be revived in six months, he said.

The bee-keeping training has been started and to attract the youth towards Gramodyog, the Centre has begun several initiatives, he said. Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industry Board (KSKVIB) Chairman Yalovalli N. Ramesh said that even today Karnataka stands first in Khadi in the country. There is a proposal to double the daily wages of Khadi Centre workers in the State and Chief Minister Siddharamaiah is likely to implement it in another two weeks.

Three buildings here have been renovated and another two will be done soon and the production will be increased four times. Gandhiji visited Badanaval twice and the glory of the place will be restored at the earliest. The Centre should also join hands in this effort, he said.

Gandhian Santosh Koujalgi urged for installing solar units for the welfare of the working class. The workers were distributed support price cheques.

Commission Member Chandramouli, Badanaval Gram Panchayat President Mahesh, Vice President Saroja and others were present.
