Dr. H.R. Chennamma, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, JSS Science & Technology University (formerly SJCE), Mysuru, has received the “Best Research Paper Award” for her research proposal titled “Virtual Lab for Digital Image Forensics” at the National Cyber Safety and Security Standards Summit, 2017, held at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus last month.
The Summit was organised by National Cyber Safety and Security Standards in association with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi.
Dr. Chennamma received this prestigious award from Justice Dr. S. Mohan, former Judge, Supreme Court of India & Chairman, National Cyber Safety and Security Standards at the valedictory function of the summit at BITS Pilani.
Dr. S. Amar Prasad Reddy, Director-General, National Cyber Safety and Security Standards, was also present. The award comprises a certificate, memento and citation.
Dr. Chennamma has presented a research paper on developing a virtual lab to support information security education. She also presented a formal and pragmatic approach problems encountered in detecting forgery with images along with its detailed solution. Further, she discussed the importance of transforming a physical laboratory into virtual laboratory for the benefit of public, Police personnel and legal issues.
Dr. Chennamma has been working on Digital Image Forensics, has published more than 25 research articles and two book chapters in the digital forensics, guiding 4 Ph.D. Scholars and also organising workshops at the Department of MCA on “An awareness programme on Cyber Security” from the last five years for the benefit of students, Police personnel and general public” under TEQIP programme of the JSS Science & Technology University.
She is also a recipient of “National Best Paper Award” for her research presentation at XIII All India Forensic Science Conference held at Kolkata.
